CLS Services is a leading professional recruitment agency, specialised in the recruitment of people with a background in chemistry or life sciences. For our client, DSM Food Specialties BV, we are searching for a Center Manager.
As Center Manager you are accountable for developing the resource strategy of the Center in accordance with the strategy of the clients and the overall DBC resource strategy and that the resources and the work processes within the Center are in order to achieve the R&D results demanded by R&D projects. You support the definition of the competences to be developed to secure future needs for innovation. You define and execute together with other Center Managers and the General Resource Manager the long term Resource Plan, based on the competences and knowledge areas required and the forecasted business R&D programs and projects volume.
You ensure on a timely basis the availability of human resources, research facilities and other resources. You define budget and allocate resources to the R&D programs / projects and control and monitor expenses and report periodically. You ensure that the management system (including QESH) is in place, maintained, communicated and complied with, and create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment. You align your mentors, work group coordinators and the department science team to contribute to the yearly department plans (motivation, inspiration). To achieve this you coach them in their daily tasks. You are responsible for the career management in your center and coach your employees in their longer term development. You safeguard the execution of R&D programs and the relationships with Principal Scientists and Project Managers. You monitor / assess and continuously improve the quality of human and other resources and work processes.
You will report to the General Resource Manager.

You have a thorough track record in the field of managing groups of people and are generally recognized as a people manager. You show plenty of initiatives, like having strong accountabilities and have the ability to motivate and help the development of your colleagues and employees. You understand the business needs and are able to translate these into concrete objectives within the center. You are strong in cooperation and are senior in handling situations in which people might have contradictory interests. You have a PHD in a relevant discipline.
