The job
At Jumbo Shipping you will do more than just sailing: loading and seafastening cargoes, discharging cargoes in hard to reach ports, the emphasis on working safely at all times, operating the cranes or determining the route of the ship. At Jumbo, you really ‘work’ with the vessel and its cargo.
As a Chief Officer you serve as executive deck-officer onboard the assigned vessel and manage the entire deck crew. You will also be responsible for the operational activities concerning loading cargo, maintenance of the ship and the housekeeping.
Besides preparations to load cargo and coordinating systematic maintenance activities you will be guiding and teaching new officers and interns.

• Knowledge of Flag State and International Maritime Rules and Regulations • Knowledge of safe ship handling and operations • Knowledge of cargo handling • Leadership skills and communicative qualities, able to work in a team • Knowledge of the English language through the spoken and written word • In possession of a valid “Certificate of Competency” as per Zeevaartbemanningswet /STCW 1995 resolution for the assigned vessel • General Operator’s Certificate GMDSS • Valid Certificate of Fitness for Seafaring (“Schepelingenbesluit art.31) • Advanced firefighting certificate • Radar Navigator certificate1 • Management (N) course certificate2 |
